davisleather asked: I've noticed pipe and you smoking a pipe in several of your photos... What happens to be your favorite blend(s) of tobacco? Do you have a "work" blend and a "relaxation" blend, or do you smoke the same thing?

I don’t smoke very often, but it’s pretty much a relaxation-only activity for me (which is also when I’m most likely to get photographed, I suppose).  I prefer Latakia-heavy blends, those are the ones that smell less sweet and more earthy, like wet dirt.  Good stuff.

Now that you mention it, now seems like a good time to relax…

Some news, some updates, a newsletter, and a giveaway.
Lately I’ve been presented with a few big opportunities.  I’ve got plans in the pipeline to visit a few pop-up markets, work on some collaborations with some very cool makers, expand my skill set in some interesting new ways, and to introduce some new products to the store that I’ve been excited to share for a while now.
The flip side of all of this exciting stuff is that I’ve decided to postpone the next round of custom ordering indefinitely (but not permanently), so that I have time to focus these projects, learn some new tricks, and get everything on the web store back to proper stock levels, and make sure I have enough goodies for those shows I’ll be going to.  I know this is a huge bummer for those of you who have been waiting to get a custom project made, but in the long run this break will mean that I can come back to the bench with more skills, knowledge, and assets when the time comes for more custom work.
In order to make it easier to keep track of events around the work shop, I’ve set up an email newsletter, which you can sign up for at the bottom of hollowsleather.com.
As a thank you to early adopters and loyal followers, anyone who signs up for the newsletter before April 4th (4/4) will be automatically entered into a drawing for a free custom belt in a configuration of your choosing, including the much-coveted Natural Chromexcel, which finally arrived today.  4/4 is also the date that I plan to have those Natural Chromexcel belts available on the web store again, in both premium and standard styles, as well as a single-prong premium buckle.
To the few of you who already signed up for the newsletter before this announcement, don’t worry, you’ll be included in the giveaway.
Thanks to all of you for the love.  Summer is coming, don’t break too many hearts.

Considering upgrading to some nicer Japanese brass split rings for key accessories.  The old ones (left) are nice, but they’re plated steel, and mine is showing a lot of silver.  It’s quite a bit more expensive to get the nice solid brass ones, but they’re really good, and I can’t really say no to good brass.
